Police have detained a taxi driver in connection with a robbery last Sunday in D’Urban Backlands when, Clarence Foster, was robbed of jewellery by two armed men.
A police press release stated that at about 12:50hrs on Sunday, police arrested the taxi driver and during a subsequent search of his premises at Ketley Street, Charlestown, found an unlicensed 9mm. pistol and three matching rounds.
Kaieteur News understands that a sum of money was also recovered.
“The police were at the time following up with investigations into an armed robbery that occurred at about 05:15hrs…at Durban Backlands, Georgetown, during which Clarence Foster was attacked and robbed of his jewellery by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm,” the release said.
