Dear Editor,
The article “Jud Lohmeyer’s unethical and immoral behaviour” written by some ghost writer and published in the Guyana Chronicle on March 15, 2011, is a diabolic act by the PPP administration to deprecate and demean Mr. Lohmeyer as “unethical” and “immoral” in character.
The truth is it is the gentleman’s prerogative to request rightful compensation as stipulated in his contract. But far be it from us the extant government is now publicly declaring. This is not an aberrant behaviour by the government. What do I mean? My brother, Bhadenauth Somrah, has been the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Rose Hall Town for years now and has not been compensated with a remuneration package that is comparable to those the extant leaders have awarded themselves.
To hear that the PPP administration paid Mr. Lohmeyer an astronomical sum of US$100,000 a year, is grievous especially since government has been paying my brother a stipend of approximately US$100 a month to manage the affairs of a town of thousands of people, a burden that is not rightfully compensated as should be.
Year after year the PPP and the PNCR colluded in the concerted effort to postpone local government elections. Why? The truth is now evident: they are filling their pockets with the money they should have otherwise earmarked for and disbursed to compensate democratically elected Mayors of townships across the country with interim management committees.
The published article although meant to denigrate a foreign servant of Guyana just shows that “You shall certainly know fools by their many disparaging words meant to denigrate those who seek to expose their seemingly clandestine corruption.”
By the way, who is the fool that had the gumption to write the article and obscure his/her identity? Regrettably, the country has prospered tremendously under the PPP governance, but “unethical” and “immoral behaviour” like these are bringing disrepute to the administration’s image as being progressively encompassing in its economic policy to be fair and transparent in conduct.
I say to them, “Repent of your sinful ways and serve Jesus Christ or you shall die in your sins and perish in the lake of fire, the eternal destination of all nincompoops!”
Amarnauth ‘Desmond’ Somrah
