Coordinator of the Mayor’s Cup Committee, Lennox Arthur, has informed Kaieteur Sport that the Mayor’s Cup football tournament will continue today at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
Today’s competition will see City side Santos facing Victoria Kings of the East Coast in the first game at 6:00pm, while at 8:00pm BK Western Tigers challenge Beacon.
Santos will have Trevor Lewis, Shemroy Arthur, William Europe, Lennox Charles and Michael Pedro as they look to hold off Kings, who will depend on Calvin DeSouza, Winston Pompey, Samuel Blackett, Sherlock Dowden and Pierre Joseph.
The Tigers and Beacon match-up promises to be a scorcher with Devon Millington expected to show his old club, Tigers, a thing or two or more. He will have support from Jerome Richardson, Rensford Coleridge, Phillip Rowley, Dellon Fraser and Daniel Favourite. Western Tigers will have Sherman David, Nedd Fraser, Renal Fraser, Wendell St Hill and Ryan Thomas.
One million dollars, $500,000, $250,000 and $100,000 are on offer for the top four teams along with individual rewards for the outstanding performers donated by AH&L Kissoon, Keishar’s and Jailing in this tournament.
Yesterday’ game were not played due to some amount of water still on the ground.
