Dear Editor,
Whoa! the Alliance For Change (AFC) has now become professional protestors. God knows there is plenty to protest, but I vividly remember it was the AFC who condemned the PNC’s protests and said it will not protest. I knew then a grave mistake was made giving the AFC any votes.
Instead of the PNC standing up like a force they bowed to these cowards and look where we are today. Africans are now a beaten people, though not broken by any stretch of the imagination.
I have repeatedly written about Khemraj Ramjattan always being up front on anything affecting Indian interests and using his seat in parliament won on the backs of traditional PNC supporters to advance the Indian interests. See Ramjattan again up in Berbice leading another protest for his people who lost their crops.
This should dawn on everyone how this man is effectively using his parliamentary seat to advance the interests of a people who didn’t give him the seat, but who he knows he needs to get to hold on to his seat. This for him is smart politics, but is an embarrassment for the African leaders like Cathy Hughes, Sheila Holder, David Patterson and Raphael Trotman who used our votes to live off of us and done nothing for us over the years.
This year is dedicated to ending racism against Africans but for Patterson, Trotman, Holder and Hughes it does not matter since like good house slaves and slave drivers they know that living off the crumbs of the massa is more enticing than fighting to end slavery.
Their self esteem is boosted prancing around in the throw-off of the maters and mistresses, bragging of being better off, looking down on the field slaves toiling under exploitative conditions and using the whip on them. Bet you, if this year was dedicated to Indians, Khemraj would have ensured the AFC use its five parliamentary seats won primarily from Africans to push the Indian cause.
Africans do not blame Khemraj, they despise the AFC African leaders for using them and allowing their support to be used solely to advance the Indian cause and not theirs. There was no protest by the AFC on the East Coast, Buxton and Georgetown where crops, livestocks and homes are also destroyed. Knowing the AFC, when they read this they will rush to hold a protest to cover up ‘dissing’ Africans.
Khemraj will have his ROAR boys and PPP supporters vote for him because he has shown he will fight for them. The smallest child in his sleep can name the PPP failures. The PNC supporters who gave the AFC their votes need no more convincing that they were taken to the slaughter by Trotman, Hughes, Holder, Patterson and Sixtus Edwards.
The baby party is over and this is the last duty free fancy vehicle, parliamentary salaries and payment of telephones bills the AFC will get from our taxes. They were sent to deliver and opted to be bloodsuckers. They have achieved nothing for us or supported us on anything.
David Granger will be given a chance to prove himself but he needs to get off his butt, make some noise and hold a placard or two in his hands.
He has very big shoes to fill. He better get the message fast and do what is necessary to get us to the polls. Don’t only be on television sitting in cushy chairs, go into the streets, listen to the people’s problems and speak for them. People are hungry for representative and solution-driven politics.
