Rivalry in the inaugural Carib Flood Light Twenty20 knock-out cricket completion organised by D&C Promotions being played at the Bartica Community Centre Ground is set to resume tomorrow with the two remaining quarter-final matches.
Competition got off to a cracking start on Saturday March 5 with two quality quarter final matches that saw the large and appreciative crowd cheering on North Essequibo to a hammering Poemeroon by 7-wickets while in the feature, Bartica ‘A’ sponsored by Hopkinson Mining won a nerve racking salvo against East Bank Essequibo by a solitary wicket, both winners advancing to the semi finals which are set for Monday.
Heavy rainfall curtailed the continuation of the tournament which is now set to get going again tomorrow from 16:00hrs.
South and Central Essequibo will go head to head in eth opening game with the winner set to meet North Essequibo in the semis.
The feature game tomorrow pits Wakenaam/Leguan Combine against Bartica ‘B’ in what is anticipated to be a thrilling tussle.
The victor of this clash earns a semi final showdown with Bartica ‘A’ also on Monday with the grand finals and third place matches set for next weekend.
The top prize of $400,000 will go to the winner overall compliments of Ansa Mc al Trading
with the second place award of $200,000 sponsored Platinum Service Station & Spare Parts. Gold Target Export and Five Star Minerals are co-sponsoring the 3rd place prize of $100,000 and the man-of-the-match award of US$100.00 for the finals. The 4th placed team will earn $50,000. Digicel is also a sponsors of the competition.
