Dear Editor,
When my family and I migrated to Guyana, it was a decision that warranted not much reasoning.
We saw Guyana in all its splendour, great educational system, an abundance of food, potpourri of people, customs and the potential to be great, considering it was once referred as “the bread basket of the Caribbean”.
I truly believe that “charity begins at home”, we travel outside of Guyana and we’re on our best behaviour, abiding by the same laws that we have here.
I don’t think much people would travel to America and have an empty soda container in hand and throw it on the ground and keep walking nor would any man stand at any random corner or street and relieve himself…why are we rebelling against ourselves?
We as citizens of this country need to take responsibility of the dire crisis we find ourselves in. I came to live in Guyana in 1991.
We experienced blackouts then and we still experience them now. What the heck are we doing? Nothing!!! Like a bunch of complaining sissies we live to whine! We do not need PPP, PNC, AFC and whatever else “skin-teeth with a broken promise” fraternities in existence to tell and show us our worth, we need men and women with a vision, men and women who consciously and spiritually (I don’t mean religion) see a way forward for Guyana.
No one is exempt from crime, no one is exempt from the deplorable state of this country, I don’t care where you live, what car you drive, or what your race and religion is, we’re all in this together. One family!!!! Fear has us stagnated and teaching our children for generations to come an unnatural and unloving way of living. Guyana wake up!!!
It’s not about which party you want to be affiliated with, we have to stand up and dare those limited thinking and immature representatives to take responsibility for their lack of leadership roles and step down since their need for power exceeds the love for their country. This is the eleventh hour, guyana……we need a miracle!
