Girls Division-
L’ Aventure sounded an ominous warning to their rivals when they upset favourites Friendship to advance to the semi-finals of the 19th Annual Easter Term Schools Windball Cricket Championships which is being sponsored by the National Sports Commission (NSC) / Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport (MCYS) and Al Sport & Tour Promotions.
When play in the competition continued on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium three other teams Queenstown Secondary, Central High and Covent Garden registered wins to join L’Aventure in the last four.
L’Aventure defeated Friendship by nine wickets.
L’Aventure with two national junior players in their line-up won the toss and invited Friendship to take first strike and they restricted the opposition to 60-2 with Teroilla Abrams 22 and Tatiana August 17, being the principal scorers. Tishana Douglas took 1-14.
L’Aventure in their turn at the middle made 63-1. Douglas came back with the bat to stroke an unbeaten 40.
Queenstown Secondary beat Guyana Education Trust College by nine wickets.
Guyana Education Trust College made 95-2 with M. Bennett hitting 46. Nekeisha Fernandes grabbed 2-38.
Queenstown Secondary replied with 96-1. Eshana Jordon 54, Shyanne Subrattie 25.
Covent Garden eased past School of the Nations by 10 wickets.
School of the Nations, who were making their return to the sport after a five-year absence batted first and scored 64-4 with Eusaphalenie Neeranjan scoring 26.
For Covent Garden, Nandy Laundry picked up 2-25. Covent Garden in reply, reached 65-0, Esther Barker hit an unbeaten 48.
Boys Division-
Nine-time champions Covent Garden, three-time champions IBE and one-time champions L’Aventure along with Monar Educational Institute Region #3, Queenstown Secondary all recorded wins.
Covent Garden beat GETC by 61 runs.
Led by a solid knock of 90 from Shameer Fazal, Covent Garden was propelled to 111-2. Kareem Norton 2-13.
Guyana Education Trust College in their response were then bowled out for 50 with K Norton 14, Gregory Abrams 11.
Mark Rhobe took 3-6, Sean Hernandaz 3-12 and S Fazal 2-28.
IBE then cruised past School of the Nations by 37 runs.
IBE made 108-0 with Brian Sattaur hitting 86.
School of the Nations replied with 71-1. Lyndon Darway hit 42 and Latesh Narine 10.
Monar beat Bladen Hall by 20 runs.
Monar 90-0, Julius Jones 65, Donnick Rodney 10.
Bladen Hall playing in their first tournament made 70-2 with Rajendra Karnauth 46.
L’Aventure defeated GITC by eight wickets.
GITC 69-3, Keron Chance 48. Travis Cato 2-26.
L’Aventure 71-2, Anil Kayume 36, Colwyn Reedon 18, T Cato 15.
