Kitty Masjid brothers united at last

Following months of animosity, the brothers of the Kitty Masjid have finally come together and have decided on a Shurah form of governance.
Shurah is an Islamic form of governance which is similar to a power sharing pact.
This arrangement follows an attempt to have the court intervene in the overhauling of the constitution that administers the Kitty Masjid after some members had expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the organisation was being run.
However, the judge who was hearing the matter had advised that the two contentious sides come up with a compromise position rather than going through with an elections that could have been very controversial.
The President of the Masjid agreed to sit down with a team established by the court to iron out the differences that the body was facing.
This led to the compromise position in which nine persons all of them representatives of the contentious parties, agreeing to the pact.
According to a source, several mosques have adopted this form of governance when most other forms have failed.
The Prashad Nagar (Sunatul) Masjid has been using the system successfully.
