Dear Editor,
Having read my letter to your newspaper, which you were kind enough to carry in your edition of Wednesday 9th March, 2011, one of my friends accosted me about the inadequacy of my analysis.
He reminded me of the much publicized executive meeting of the Demerara Cricket Board, where Mr. Bissoondial Singh paraded, not only his arrogance, but his inability to conduct a simple executive meeting.
My friend informed me that the President of the Guyana Cricket Board is automatically a Director of the West Indies Cricket Board, and, were Mr. Singh to be elected to such a position, then, Guyana will surely be the laughing stock of our Caribbean colleagues.
He also pointed out to me that in his opinion, Mr. Roger Harper’s support for Mr. Singh is a calculated move in that with Mr. Singh’s inability Mr. Harper (and a few others whom he named) will surely have a free rein.
He rhetorically asked, however, “What is Mr. Harper doing in Guyana, with all these cricketing events taking place worldwide? – World Cup, I.P.L. and other cricketing events.”
He proffered the view that Mr. Harper‘s talent will be better used in coaching one of the IPL or County teams rather than flying the flag of the likes of Mr. Bissoondial Singh and his (Harper’s) colleague Vice President of the Demerara Cricket Board, Mr. Jaigobin.
