Guyanese Bell on target for Queen’s Park
Guyanese international Jerazeno Bell, who now plays for Queen’s Park, Nicholas Camacho and Sean Lee Quay all found the target in a 3-1 beating of Notre Dame in their T&T Hockey Board Men’s Championship match, at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua on Saturday
Aidan De Gannes got the Dames lone reply which briefly reduced the match to 2-1.
Queen’s Park’s Jerazeno Bell (#77) fires past the outstretch stick of Notre Dame duo, Keith De Peza and diving goalkeeper Gregory Garraway to score.
Meanwhile, Gayle-Ann Nieves scored a pair of goals as defending champion in the T&T Hockey Board Women’s Championship Division stayed perfect.
Shandy Carib Magnolias, whipped national indoor winners Ventures 4-1, also on Saturday night. Mika Ella Tang and Stacey Siu Butt added the others, while Cristina Abreu got Ventures’ consolation. It was the second win from as many matches for Magnolias to lead with maximum six points, two more than Paragon which edged the previously unbeaten Notre Dame 2-1.
Dana-Lee De Gannes fired the Dames ahead, but Zene Henry replied for a 1-1 score at the interval, before Kristin Thompson snatched all points for Paragon eight minutes from the final whistle.
In another Men’s Championship Division game, Defence Force picked up its first points of the campaign after two matches in a 2-1 victory over Corona Fatima. A Kirth-Davis field goal handed Defence Force the lead, but Dean Nieves tied up the score for Fatima. However, midway through the second-half Nicholas Wren got the win for Defence Force when he converted a penalty.
