In birth people didn’t have a choice. In death dem also don’t have a choice. But dem boys seh that in life dem have a choice. De other night dem had a choice whether to eat free food or to ignore de food.
Was Brassy birthday and he invite all he friends fuh food at New Thriving. He didn’t have to pay because de owner like treat dem big ones and Brassy really big.
De Waterfalls boss man had a choice and he go to de birthday bash and get some food. And dem boys seh that he end up at de party by mistake. Whole day he mekking mistake. He lef to go to a friend funeral and he guh de wrang time.
When he explain to somebody that de dead man was he friend de friend tell he that de dead man wouldn’t mind. But he still feel funny. Dem boys seh that he can still go and apologise to de dead man.
But is Brassy bash that tek de cake. Dem boys seh that if he, Brassy, had to pay is from all de money he collect fuh dem government property. He spend he birthday in court trying to get money from de man who own Guyana Stores.
Dem boys seh that is everybody trying to get money. Vyphuis trying to get money from Benschop. That is like getting blood out of stone.
But he can eat. Dem boys sure that he can’t sleep tonight because he put away chicken by de bowl, fry rice by de platter, chowmein by de potful and some of dem Chinee things by de mouthful. Even de prawns he lick up although de doctor tell he that it ain’t good fuh he cholesterol. But he had a choice. He could have pick, pick.
Dem boys worried about de sewerage tomorrow. Already de sewerage pump got problems. That pressure could shut down de whole city.
