Head Coach, Brian Joseph speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday said that the players are in high spirits and they are confident of claiming victory against their Surinamese counterparts.
The team which would be captained by Marlon Maxius also includes former Nationals Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules, who is doubling as an Assistant Coach; Kayode McKinnon along with current senior National players Keiron Cameron and goalkeeper Derrick Carter.
The Milerock line-up features a mix of seasoned and young players and they are backing themselves to come out victors over a Suriname side that has been at this level before.
Joseph noted that his charges have done a lot of work preparing for this encounter and it is now down to execution time.
Apart from having the home advantage, Joseph is appealing to all football fans and supporters especially those in the Bauxite Mining Town to come out in their numbers to cheer the local side to victory.
With the experienced Carter manning goal, Captain Maxius along with Cameron, Ryan Crandon and Denver Dennis will form the core of the defense. McKinnon, once referred to as the ‘Magician’ will be dictating the flow of the game from the engine room (midfield) in tandem with Clive Nobrega, Quacy Johnson, Steve Brewley and Oswald Benjamin while hunting goals upfront will be veteran Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules and Alesta Johnson. Clifton Halley is the other goalkeeper.
Joseph did disclose that he does not know much about their opponent but they {Milerock}have prepared to deal with whatever challenge is presented by the opponents with the former aiming to rock the nets first.
