Fifteen-year-old Akeem Lammy, of Dolphin Secondary School was viciously stabbed five times in his back by a student attending the nearby Carmel Secondary School.
Around midday on Thursday this student attacked Lammy and stabbed him from behind with a knife.
An eyewitness said that she saw Lammy walking on Charles Street between Broad and Howes Street when a teenaged boy clad in a Carmel Secondary uniform crept up behind him with a knife in his hand. The woman said that before she could shout a warning, and prevent the aggressor from carrying out the act, she saw him stab the victim about six times in his back. “When I see he stab the boy I rushed to the phone and call the police and Kaieteur News but I didn’t get the police only Kaieteur News. When I done call I went back to see what’s going on outside and by then the boy with the white shirt and blue pants was bleeding bad,” said the eye witness.
Lammy had to be rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, and it was reported that he had lost a lot of blood. “The doctors did a good job stitching him up,” one student said later.
Lammy, when interviewed, said that earlier this week his adversary came to him and punched him in his face claiming that he told another peer that he is gay.
Lammy said that he retaliated and as far as he was concerned, that was the end of the matter.
However, to Lammy’s assailant, the matter was not resolved that day, hence the drive for revenge.
Lammy’s father said that he lives alone with his son and is not aware of his son fighting and making trouble with other students.
He said that he was shocked when he received a phone call informing him of what had transpired.
The man added that he visited the home of his son’s assailant with the police and upon arrival the boy ran away. He added that he “will go the extra mile” to ensure that his son receives justice.
