The police are yet to come up with a motive for the murder of South Ruimveldt resident, Khirul Najidam, called Babloo Saddick, who was found, bound and gagged in the storage room of her Gaulding Place home.
Police sources yesterday said that they are still unable to identify any possible suspects. One neighbour said yesterday, that she was still coming to grips with the murder.
The woman said that residents have been on the look out for anything “out of the ordinary”.
“We always used to look out for people….but since the murder we’ve become more alert,” the woman said.
The woman added that she really hopes that the police apprehend the people responsible for the murder.
One of the relatives of the dead woman said that they were still trying to comprehend why someone would want to kill Saddick.
It was around 15:00hrs on Friday last, when a group of school children went to the woman’s house to make a purchase and found the woman dead.
This newspaper was told that the children were calling for the elderly woman, but got no response.
Two young girls from the group reportedly ventured further into the yard and discovered the woman’s body in the storeroom.
The discovery sent the young girls running out the yard and over to a nearby internet café where they recounted what they had seen. The girls were questioned by the police and released.
One neighbour recalled seeing three young boys running from the house some time before the body was discovered.
Relatives said that Khirul lived alone after her husband died a few years back. The woman, according to relatives, did not have any children.
