Len’s Craft Optical/Sunburst OJ U-15 Youth League kick off tomorrow

four matches slated for GFC Ground from 08:00hrs
The inaugural Len’s Craft Optical/Sunburst Orange Juice Under-15 League for City teams is set to kick off tomorrow morning at the Georgetown Football Club Ground with four matches.
Ten clubs will be vying for the championship trophy and bragging rights in this tournament which is the first under the new Executive of the Georgetown Football Association headed by Lt. Cdr. Vernon Burnett.
Group One comprises of Pele, Sunburst Camptown, Georgetown Football Club, Houston Stars and BK International Western Tigers, while the Group Two teams are Santos, Fruta Conquerors, Riddim Squad, Flamingo and Renaissance.
Given the honour to get on field action going from 08:00hrs are Sunburst Camptown and Georgetown Football Club.
BK Int. Western Tigers will then match skills with Houston Stars from 09:15hrs, followed by a clash between Flamingo and Santos from 10:30hrs, with the feature match-up bringing together Fruta Conquerors and Renaissance.
Matches will be played every Saturday at the same venue with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals. Three (3) points will be awarded for a win, one (1) for a draw and none (0) for a loss.
Only players born on or after January 1st 1996 are eligible to play in this tournament which will see the winning team being awarded the champions trophy and gold medals; the losing finalist will also receive a trophy and silver medals, while the winner of the third place game featuring the losing semifinalists will receive bronze medals and a trophy.
Fourth place will also attract a trophy, while there will be individual prizes to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament, player to score the most goals and the best goalkeeper.
Players and officials will be refreshed with Sunburst Orange Juice.
The Guyana Football Referees Council will be providing officials for all the games during the tournament which will be played under the rules of the Georgetown Football Association, Guyana Football Federation and FIFA.
Meanwhile, Coaches and team Captains participating in the League met to discuss the rules and codes of conduct for players, coaches and parents/supporters at the GFC last evening.
Those in attendance expressed gratitude for the meeting noting that it was the first time that Captains at this level were invited to be a part of such a meeting.
They all promised to uphold the laws of the game and to be at their best for the tournament.
