Police have dispatched another team of investigators to probe one more report of murder in the interior, this time in the Five Star Backdam, North West District.
If the report turns out to be true, it will add to the growing list of murders to have occurred in Guyana’s interior locations within the past month.
Details of what has transpired are sketchy since according to Divisional Commander Assistant Commissioner David Ramnarine, it will take his team of investigators several hours to reach the location where the murder reportedly occurred.
Ramnarine told Kaieteur News last evening that there is no definitive information on what happened.
“At this point of time there are a lot of pieces to be put together if there is any authenticity to be attached to the report.”
He stated that the report that was channeled by a relay system to the Port Kaituma Police Station seems to suggest that there was a violent incident in the Five Star area, which is predominantly a mining community, and that a life may have been lost.
“As a consequence, a team of policemen has been dispatched to the area. It will take them some time to get there,” Ramnarine said.
He expects to be in a better position to give details later today.
