Nineteen-year-old, Nikita Rebecca Smith, the missing teen and mother of two, returned to her Essequibo home Tuesday evening.
According to relatives, Nikita returned, accompanied by her paramour to the Coast.
One family member who relayed the information about the teen’s return said that she has since been hospitalized. Once more she complained to relatives of being injured when she sustained a fall in the Gold Creek Bartica.area. This fall had put her in hospital before.
The relative noted that the doctor at the Suddie Public Hospital, where Smith is hospitalized, further detained her as a patient, after she appeared to be in poor health. “Nikita had visible scars on her mouth. Her tongue sustained a deep cut and so did her nose. She was bleeding and she looked weak,” the relative said.
Nikita Rebecca Smith, formerly of Supenaam, her relatives said, left Essequibo with a male companion, almost a month ago. Smith’s mother, Ann, said that after Nikita left Essequibo, they received a call from a male some three weeks later. This man altered them that Nikita had to seek medical attention because she had fallen ill.
The man who never identified himself, continued to relate to Nikita mom’s, Ann, that her daughter had sustained serious head and face injuries, due to a fall.
Family members who previously spoke with Kaieteur News said that the information that was related to them by the male caller was subsequently confirmed after family members contacted the Hospital at Bartica.
Nurses told them that Smith was being treated for head and facial injuries.
Nikita was also given a transferal letter to seek further attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
She had complained to nurses about experiencing dizziness. According to Ann, one nurse at Bartica, told her that Nikita was discharged unaccompanied after she was referred to the city.
The nurse explained that the injuries were not considered life threatening and further, the hospital at Bartica was not equipped with a neurosurgeon.
Ann added that on February 24, last, four family members traveled to Georgetown, in search of Nikita, but failed to locate the teen, who they said had never ventured to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
