National Table Tennis Coach Linden Johnson, Senior Vice President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Harold Hopkinson and former National champion Colin France among others were in Linden last Sunday where they saw young upcoming players now attending the clinics, which are being conducted by Linden coaches Raynor ‘Copter’ Anderson and Howard James at the Linmine Recreational Hall.
Some twenty-three players ranging from ages 6 to 25 years turned up at the sessions held from 9:00am to 3:00pm. GTTA Vice President Harold Hopkinson said the GTTA was in support of the programme and thus wanted to assist since this will help spread the game especially among the younger players.
President of the LTTA, Lethem Wilson, was thankful for the support being given from the national body, and said it will help in the efforts now being made by his body in Linden to spread the game.
Coach Howard James continued his workout at the Linden Foundation Secondary School from 2:15pm to 4:15pm Sunday, while having sessions for females at the Mackenzie Sports Club from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
He will again carry sessions on Friday at the New Silvercity secondary School from 2:15pm to 4:15pm and on Saturday the Linden Technical Institute players are expected to be at the Linmine Constabulary hall for sessions from 9:00am.
Coach Anderson was at the Wismar Christianburg Secondary School yesterday, while he will be at the Schools of Excellence today, tomorrow at Mackenzie High School, and Friday at the Senior Supervisor’s Club where the Linden Scouts will be in sessions.
