over $700,000 up for grabs; Bill Express chips in
With a yearning love to see the sport really propel in Guyana, domino die hard Lyall Gittens and Next level Domino Club have teamed up yet again to bring off a nationwide competition which is set for March 26 and 27 at the National Gymnasium.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport recently following a presentation by Bill Express to Gittens at their Western Union headquarters, Gittens disclosed that over $700,000 in cash will be up for grabs with a first prize of $300,000 at stake along with trophy.
He said that the first 25 teams will receive a gift while the second place team will take away $200,000; third $100,000 with $50,000 going to the fourth place team. Nigel’s Supermarket will donate a hamper to the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while the first player to share a double love will pocket $3,000.
It was further disclosed that all the qualifying teams out of the city will be accommodated free of cost.
Marketing Manager of Bill Express Natheeah King made a contribution to enable the successful hosting of the tournament. King shared that Bill Express and Western Union have always been very supportive of sports in Guyana as it is part of their social mandate.
Some of the other sponsors on board are Banks DIH (R1 Vodka), Star Party Rentals, Nigel’s Supermarket, L. Kanhai, H. Persaud, Mambo Bar, Trophy Stall, Sterling Products and TNT Domino Club.
Bar-b-que pork will be on sale during the course of the tournament with music being provided by Sonic Boom and a live one man band.
