It was described as a scene from the ‘Wild, Wild West’, as a 45-year-old deportee fired rounds at a group of boys who taunted him about his status.
The deportee, 45-year-old Trevor Fernandes, has since been arrested and booked for discharging a loaded firearm with intent and offence committed on Onecia Henry, 32, and Claire De Silva, 49, both of 29 Second Street, Alberttown.
The incident occurred around 15:00 hours on Sunday and according to reports had it not been for the swift intervention of a mobile police patrol unit, the situation could have been much worse.
According to information reaching this newspaper, the deportee who was heavily under the influence of alcohol was at the 22 Second Street, Alberttown home of one Melissa Humphrey, 77, a former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
Now, Mrs Humphrey is a licenced firearm holder of one Brazilian made .32 silver and black revolver, which police suspect was used in the incident.
This newspaper was informed that a group of young men passed the said house and shouted “Deportee”. As a result, the Fernandes became annoyed and reportedly threatened to shoot the young men.
He then went into the bedroom of Humphrey’s house and collected the firearm and discharged two rounds in their direction.
The police patrol unit responded to the scene and arrested Fernandes and took possession of the .32 revolver along with two spent shells which were subsequently lodged.
