The 3rd Annual Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Schools Football Tournament will officially kick off today with a double header, at the Bayroc Community Centre ground, starting from 13:00 hrs.
In the fixtures: Wismar Secondary School takes on New Silver City Secondary and Christianburg / Wismar Secondary collide with Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute.
The two games will be preceded by the Opening Ceremony which will see the March Past of all eight teams identified to participate in the competition.
The tournament will see the teams divided into two groups of four engage each other in a round-robin format where the top two from each group advance to the semifinal stage.
The schools chosen to compete in the competition are: Group A-Wisburg Secondary, Linden School of Excellence, New Silver City Secondary and Harmony Secondary, while Group B consists of- Christianburg/Wismar Secondary, Marcia Craig Educational Institute, Mackenzie High and Linden Foundation Secondary.
During the preliminary phase, play is scheduled to start at 15:00 hrs, while from the semi-final stage kick-off time is 13:00 hrs.
The venues identified are Wisburg Secondary School ground, Linden Technical Institute ground, Bayroc Community Centre, Christianburg Community Centre, Linden Foundation Secondary School ground and Mackenzie Sports Club and from the last four stages, schools will play each other on a home and away basis where the team with the highest goal aggregate secures a place in the final.
The competition continues on Thursday with another double header.
