Dear Sir,
In your Issue of Friday, 18th February, 2011, the Raj Singh faction of Demerara Cricket Board alerts all constituent members of the Demerara Cricket Board to prepare their teams for the DCB Under-15 competition.
We understand from the release that this competition is fully sponsored. Before resolving their differences, it would appear that a sponsor is being dragged into the mess by the DCB.
Until this matter is resolved, sponsors and in particular corporations of repute should be cautious in taking sides, lest they end up with eggs on their face.
However, what is even more perplexing is that this faction has committed Castrol and GTM to sponsor the Guyana Cricket Board Competition. Well if I were the Manager for Guyoil or GTM, I will also thread cautiously in continuing to associate with a battered and damaged GCB.
Accusations of mis-management, squandermania, incompetence and even theft have been leveled against some of the Executives of the Guyana Cricket Board not by outsiders but by people within the inner circle.
Until the GCB is reformed and run by credible people, sponsors like Guyoil and GTM should be wary in dealing with them.
Yours sincerely
L. Persaud
