Trophies and balls handed over
By Franklin Wilson
The East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) received a timely boost yesterday when Bill Express through Marketing Manager Natheeah King handed over trophies and 15 balls for the successful completion of their Under-15 League which has reached the second stage.
EDFA President Aubrey Hutson in accepting the donation on behalf of his Association said that they were very grateful to Bill Express for taking care of sponsorship for the League which started some two weeks ago.
“I would like to thank Bill Express for this contribution which will make this championship a success.”
Ms. King in her remarks noted that they have always been very supportive of sports and its growth in Guyana for many years. “Our mandate is to support youths through education and sports and today {yesterday}this is just another example of what we promised to do for the community in terms of youth development.”
Ms. King also called on their customers to continue to support Bill Express citing their support as the reason they are able to assist the youths. “That is a plea I would like to make to our customers, people who do transactions with Bill Express and Western Union to continue to support our business.”
The players of the various teams which are competing in the competition also came in for some words of advice from Ms. King. “I would like to charge the players of the teams that discipline is very important.
If you don’t have discipline you cannot be successful in nothing that you do so I would like to charge them to display a high level of discipline and to put their best foot forward.
Take in your education, you can be the best sportsman on the field but if you don’t have that education to express your feelings and your views of the game, you cannot move forward.”
Eight (8) teams are contesting the competition and have been placed into two groups. Group A comprise of leaders and unbeaten so far after 3 matches, Golden Grove, Mahaica, Ann’s Grove and Victoria.
Group B is made up of the unbeaten BV Triumph United (6 points), Buxton United, Buxton Stars and Plaisance.
