Parliamentary Secretary within the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport, Steve Ninvalle, presented a quantity of football gear to Mahdia businessman Roger Hinds to distribute to youths in that hinterland community.
PS Ninvalle’s Secretary Kesa Chase handed over the gear, which consisted of football boots, trunks, shin pads and jerseys, to Hinds in the presence of overseas-based Guyanese Colin Stoby.
The gear, Ninvalle informed, was donated by overseas-based Guyanese Stanley Gittens who has an interest in seeing football and sports in general develop in Guyana. He has pledged to continue supporting with similar donations, noting the untapped talent in Guyana’s hinterland regions especially that needs to be nurtured.
Meanwhile, Ninvalle said that Hinds, who also has a football team, RH Lions, at Mahdia, has been a die hard supporter of sports in general. He cited Hinds’ immense contributions to football, boxing and several other sports not only in Mahdia, but in the city as well.
Ninvalle said that the gear presented to Hinds, will distribute it to youngsters in need in the predominantly mining community.
Hinds, for his part, was grateful for the donation, noting that Ninvalle was always ready to assist in anyway possible and he was heartened by the PS’s efforts. The Inter-Block programme that is Ninvalle’s brainchild was cited as well as similar donations and other assistance he has arranged for youth around the country.
