– hectic weeks ahead for local athletics
The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) will host a Development Meet on Sunday in Linden ahead of next weekend’s National Youth and Junior Championship that will be used to select the Junior CARIFTA Games team that will compete in Jamaica.
The CARIFTA are set for April 23-25 and apart from the Youth and Junior Championships at the Police Sports Club Ground, local athletes will have the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) trials that will be held at the Enmore Ground on March 20 to impress selectors.
Following the IGG Trials, the AAG will host the first Roxanna Rigby/David Nedd Memorial the next weekend, March 27, to be exact, at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground. The season is scheduled to continue on April 10 with U-23 Championships.
In a release, the association said that it was forced to push back its season owed to the inclement weather, which had ruled out most venues.
Clubs and schools were asked to take special note of the above changes and are invited to compete in the upcoming events.
