Marceline Small, wife of murder accused Jarvis Small, made her second court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry for the continuation of the smuggling charge instituted against her.
Yesterday, she appeared without her lawyer, Pamela De Santos, who appeared later. By this time the matter had been deferred to March 7, next.
Ms De Santos informed the court that her client was granted bail in the High Court one day after she was remanded.
The accused, who is a manager at Guyana Water Incorporated, resides at 187 Parfait Harmonie Housing Scheme, West Bank Demerara.
Corporal Venetta Pindar told the court that on January 24, last, Marceline Small took a prohibited item to the Camp Street jail. Pindar added that the accused, on the day of the incident, was at the prison to deliver meals for her husband, Jarvis Small, who is on self support.
Marceline’s husband, Jarvis Small, and his lover, Bibi Gopaul, are accused of killing Gopaul’s daughter Neesa Gopaul.
As Jarvis Small’s delivered meals were inspected, officers unearthed a cell phone stashed in a loaf of bread. After weeks of investigation, lawmen decided to charge the accused.
Magistrate Beharry had proceeded to remand Marceline Small when she initally appeared in court.
