A parking lot is needed in the Stabroek Market area

Dear Editor,
I am a Guyanese based in Canada, who on my trips back home, looks forward to visiting our beautiful Stabroek Market.
I am visiting again and am surprised to see how clear in front the market has become.
The last time I was there, I remembered parking in the lot in front of the market. This trip, I had to put up a fight with the barrage of hostile mini bus drivers who seem to have taken over the entire space, in front of the market.
With them obstructing access into the market, it was extremely challenging and infuriating finding parking around there.
Stabroek Market is a unique landmark for our city, and is a focal point for customers, consumers, commuters and tourists.
Furthermore, it would be an asset to customers and visitors, to have a parking lot in front of, or near to the market.
Having a parking lot would not only improve the accessibility and flow for individuals coming into that area, but it would also generate revenue for the city, if a cost for parking was implemented. I am quite sure that many individuals would be willing to pay, to have this convenience.
In North America, parking lots are found at every major business and tourist intersection to ensure accommodation, convenience and advancement.
I think it would be in the best interest of the city, if the relevant Ministry looks into this matter, and take into consideration, constructing a parking lot near the Stabroek Market.
I am hoping that when I return this Christmas to Guyana, there will be more order, and less chaos in front of this epic monument.
