Headteacher of South Ruimveldt Nursery School, Tyefia London was on Saturday night attacked by two school aged lads, who stripped her of her jewelry and handbag.
According to Miss London, sometime around 20:30 hours on Saturday, she had just left her friend’s house at Lamaha Park, Georgetown after completing several school projects and was heading home when the two boys rode past her on a bicycle.
“I saw these boys ride past me on a bicycle and before I knew what was happening I felt a hand squeezing my neck so I started to holler and he told me to don’t make noise or else he will kill me.”
In an interview with Kaieteur News, London stated that after the bandit held on to her neck she became afraid and started to scream “Thief! Thief!” But after being instructed to keep quiet, she cooperated, fearing for her life.
“When the boy told me to keep quiet I decided to cooperate because gold rings can always be purchase but not a life.”
All this time the other lad who was still sitting on the bicycle acted as a look-out.
The bandit then demanded that she hand over her four gold rings she was wearing on her fingers.
But apparently London was taking too long so the lad took his teeth and pulled off the rings one at a time.
“After he told me to take off my rings, he put my fingers into his mouth and pulled off my rings one by one.”
After taking possession of the gold jewelry, the young bandit grabbed her handbag and rejoined his associate on their bicycle and rode away.
“When the bandits left I walk a few blocks away and started to holler for help”
Villagers, after hearing the commotion ventured out on the streets.
The still traumatised teacher added that the only thing she will like to repossess is her handbag that contained her just completed school projects and other important documents. London also had US $80 and a memory card in the bag.
She has reported the matter to the East La Penitence Police Station.
“All I will like to have back is my school projects which are very important and my personal documents,” Miss London said.
Several weeks back, her friend was robbed after receiving a trashing at the hands of two boys who also escaped on a bicycle.
