The 19-year old, who allegedly stabbed and killed her lesbian lover early Saturday morning outside the “Red Dragon” club, is expected to make a court today before Magistrate Priya Beharry, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Sonobia James 25, a mother of two was allegedly stabbed to the neck by her female lover. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital. Kaieteur News understands that the charges were prepared, and the teen is expected to be charged with murder.
Further, this newspaper was told by police source that the teen has expressed sincere remorse over the incident.
A close relative of the dead woman had told Kaieteur News that the family got the news shortly after 05:00hrs on Saturday.
According to the relative, about five of the woman’s friends came to her home calling for her.
The relative further told this publication that the persons requested an audience with her, but because of the time she was hesitant and kept questioning why they were there.
It was only after one of the friends blurted out that Sonobia was killed, that she rushed from the window.
The relative said that she quickly got dressed and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she confirmed the grim news.
Sources at the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday told Kaieteur News that James died from a single stab wound to the neck. The murder weapon was found at the scene.
An eyewitness to the incident said that James was seen speaking with another female.
The man said that the suspect was inside of the club and came out and saw the two ladies chatting.
The eyewitness said that the suspect approached the two ladies and an argument between James and the suspect ensued.
The man said there was a scuffle but he did not realise that James was stabbed. He said it was only after friends started shouting “Stacy get stab” that he realised what had transpired.
A few of the dead woman’s neigbhours had told this publication that the two women began living together sometime last year.
One neighbour said that the two women would frequently argue and in some instances the arguments became physical.
