Dear Editor,
Your front page comment (Sunday 27th February) captioned, “Avarice, Greed and Fraud”, is one of the most damning condemnations of our perverted government.
But should we blame the Government alone? Heck no – we the people are allowing the eye pass. If we were not, we would have been putting pressure on the authorities.
The utterances of our head of state as I said in a previous letter, is embarrassing to us all. I can’t imagine where he has gotten this over bearing arrogance and conceit from. Why should the media be advised by our head of state, to purchase tender documents so they can inform the public of the specifications for projects, especially when this information rarely comes to us from the Government who I must recount, are the servants of the people?
I must blame our opposition politicians too, for most of the information you the media (especially Kaieteur News and Stabroek News) acquire should also be possessed by, and acted upon by the elected representatives in the opposition.
Rarely would there be any concerted condemnation and action from the opposition, when you the media have verifiable exposes’ printed, of the corruption, fraud and impropriety committed by the government.
I get the impression that maybe there are beneficiaries of the largesse from the rape of our treasury, outside of officialdom. It seems one of the most reasonable conclusions to arrive at to account for this ‘pitty-patty’ approach to the perversion of this government by our elected representatives in the opposition.
Or maybe there are certain shared proclivities between the Office of the President and some members of the opposition? Can’t rule that out too, for as we know, politics make for some strange bed-fellows.
