Violent woman on $350,000 bail

Samantha Roberts, 30, of Mora Point, Bartica and a mother of six, appeared in the Bartica Magistrate ‘s Court on Friday to face the charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on 29-year-old Colleen Gonsalves, also of Mora Point Bartica.
It is alleged that on Sunday February 20, last, Samantha Roberts inflicted grievous bodily harm onto Colleen Gonsalves at Mora Point, Bartica .
Roberts was not required to plead. Police Prosecutor Inspector Oswald Pitt then told the Court that Gonsalves was still hospitalised.
He added that Samantha Roberts had another case of stabbing in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court. This time the victim died as a result of the injuries sustained .
The Police Prosecutor also objected to bail on the grounds of flight risk and the likelihood of the defendant committing similiar offences. But the magistrate set bail at $350,000 and fixed March 11, for the next hearing. (Edward A Persaud)
