The Business Community in Bartica have been showing tangible support ahead of the historic Carib Twenty20 Flood Light knock-out cricket competition which is scheduled to bowl off on Saturday at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
Platinum Service Station & Spare Parts and Gold Target Exports have handed over their contributions to Co Director of the Promotional Group, D&C Promotions, Deon Ferrier.
Marketing Manager of Platinum Service Station & Spare Parts Shundell Gilkes in brief remarks during the presentation of the second place cheque ($200,000) said that her entity was pleased to be associated with this historic event which will showcase the best talent in the Essequibo area.
“As a business entity serving this community we are very pleased to give back through this medium which will bring together youths and even those not as young from all around as they showcase their cricketing skills in an organised way.”
Ms. Gilkes also noted that the community as a whole is excited to come out and offer their support for this tournament which is expected to be a big hit.
Supervisor of Gold Target Export, Lloyd Lyte also expressed delight in being a part of this first time event in Bartica. Lyte’s company and Five Star Minerals are co-sponsoring the 3rd place prize of $100,000 and the man-of-the-match award of US$100.00 for the finals.
“We are happy to do our bit to ensure the success of this cricket tournament in Bartica. We have all been very supportive of sporting events in Bartica and this is just a continuation of that commitment. I am sure that we will witness a very entertaining tournament and the fans will have a great time.”
Deon Ferrier thanked both entities for their partnership in making the tournament a reality. He pledged that along with fellow Director Charles Jones, they will leave no stones unturned in making this inaugural tournament an exciting one.
“We will be doing our best to ensure that all goes well and we are expecting the community to come out and enjoy some exciting games. We also expect a number of fans to travel from all along the Essequibo Coast, Pomeroon, Leguan and Wakenaam to support their respective teams.
Ferrier also thanked main sponsor Ansa McAl Trading for stepping up as the sponsor of the first place prize of $400,000 for the knock-out competition which bowls off this weekend at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
On Saturday, Pomeroon and North Essequibo will set the tone for the tournament when they collide from 16:00hrs; the feature game brings together Bartica ‘A’ and East Bank Essequibo.
Sunday’s double header commences at 13:00hrs with play between South Essequibo and Central Essequibo with main play featuring Bartica ‘B’ and Wakenaam/Leguan Combine.
