It will be interesting to see how the PPP presidential candidates react to the presence of Mr. Grin in the Office of the President (OP). From documents released first by Mark Benschop, then by other media houses, the Guyanese people now know that an American young man, thirty-one years of age, is a paid consultant in OP and receives three million Guyana dollars monthly for work on the One Laptop Per Family (OLPF) project.
Of course by know Guyanese are aware that it is not a laptop that will be given but a notebook which is a less sophisticated type of computer compared to and different in features from the laptop. Mr. Grin is not being paid by any foreign body but by funds from the Government itself.
Given his age, Mr. Grin cannot be a very experienced person in working in the Third World. Secondly, he is not Guyanese and the notebook programme is a sociological project involving folks who live in lesser endowed sections of Guyana. What special skills, then, does Mr. Grin bring to the notebook venture that cannot be matched by a Guyanese sociologist or a Guyanese computer specialist?
And why such an enormous salary? Is Mr. Grin’s presence in OP the largest indication to date that there is grindelia in OP? I guess Mr. Harry Gill, one of our frequent letter-writers, will ask what grindelia is. Just check it out Harry. How about dictionary.com?
Benschop and other media houses have released more stuff about grindelia in OP that will certainly embarrass the PPP presidential candidates.
Why is OP paying for a rented house for an intelligence officer with the GDF and a certain Minister of Government? Interesting how these pieces of dictatorship are being exposed to the Guyanese at a time when parts of the Third World are ablaze with popular uprisings. As more of the pieces come to light, can they lead to the spark we are all waiting for?
Things are looking up for the imminent Velvet Revolution in Guyana. All Guyanese must have read and seen on television that the AFC leadership participated in a picket exercise outside OP last Friday in protest against OP’s mistreatment of Marcelle Joseph, the young woman who was sacked last week.
The AFC also counter-picketed a goon squad that was sent by state agents to demonstrate in front of the AFC’s campaign office. It looks like the Tunisia/Egypt/Libya wind is blowing in Guyana’s direction. There is hope for the Velvet Revolution in Guyana because the AFC has now embraced the culture of protest and will march against fascism in this land.
Do not write Guyana off. The Velvet Revolution that is sweeping the Arab world may be coming.
Dictatorship just doesn’t know when to stop its excesses and brutalities. William Woolford is set to be relieved of his job for no reason at all. He simply said; “Show me proof of corruption in my sphere of control and I will act.”
The little Hitlers cannot even understand that. They plan to fire him. Marcelle Joseph was crucified before the cross was put in front of Woolford. But the little fascists got more than they bargained for. Ms. Joseph has a WikiLeaks card in her possession. She is an astute person.
Fearing for her life after she was threatened by someone known to do violent chores for the cabal, she flew to the US. This very person was assigned the task for the arrangement of the feces attack on me. Ms. Joseph needs to fear for her life indeed. This man is a deadly thug.
She chose Mark Benschop to disclose what she knows so far. She probably needed to confide in someone who will not be intimidated by the baby Mubaraks and tiny Gaddafis of fascist Guyana.
Stupidity suddenly found itself on the doorstep of the home of Marcelle Joseph. The police raided her home on Thursday looking for four flash drives. How foolish are the people in charge of this country? They really believe Ms. Joseph would leave her flash drives on top of the table.
Jonathan Mann of CNN once wrote that after an interview with Muammar Gaddafi, he wondered how such a silly man could have lasted so long in power. As you look at the people that have taken control of this country, you can’t help but have the same thought as Mr. Mann. As you watch at how Guyana is governed, you ask yourself how these incompetents have lasted for so long in power (19 years). The Libyan nightmare is about to end. What about Guyana?
