‘G’ Division of the Guyana Police Force has made a timely contribution of sports gears, to the newly formed, Dartmouth Football club.
They are one of the eight teams involved in a football competition organised by businessman, Wayne Moore which started last evening. The 2020 (20 minutes per side) competition was held under floodlights.
Senior ranks of ‘G’ Division were approached by the six member steering body for financial assistance, which was readily offered by ranks, who said they would not be only contributing sports materials to the team, but would also engage in supporting the team, by contributing a series of educational lectures, especially to the youths, involved, on various topical issues.
The newly revamped team was formed in December, and coach, Dillon Moore, said although they are presently practicing on a very rough field, his team is serious about Football.
According to promoter, Wayne Moore, he said the new 2020 knockout football is a smaller version of the regular football game which is normally played for 90 minutes.
“I have been in football for a long time and given the support from businessmen, like myself, my intention is to move football, to another level, especially in Region Two,” Moore said.
Moore had said eight teams will be competing for over a $100,000 thousand dollars in both prizes and trophy.
Regional Chairman, Ali Baksh and Carl Brandon, who is within the Ministry of Culture Youths and Sports, were part of the event. (Yannason Duncan)
