Thursday’s accident in Buck Hall that subsequently caused the death of Chitram Sooknarine, of Anna Regina, New Housing Scheme and others being hospitalised, was not a case of hit and run..
The driver and owner of the truck involved in the accident, Paabindra Ramcharran, of Cotton Field Village, Essiquibo Coast today said that contrary to reports he has never been in hiding and that the truck is at the scene of the accident and not hidden as was reported.
He said that he was heading out of Buck Hall area around 5:30 pm when he lost control of the truck, which toppled in the hilly area.
In a previous report this news paper had published that Paabindra Ramcharran was hiding and the truck nowhere to be found. According to a police report Ramcharran was hospitalised but took his own discharge and had gone into hiding. However yesterday Ramcharran telephoned Kaieteur News and he made it clear that he was never hiding and that the truck is located at the scene of accident about 51 kilometers along the Buck Hall road.
