National junior table tennis player, Nigel Bryan welcomed his return to form yesterday when he ensured that he will play for the Under-21 and ‘B’ Class titles in the National Sports Commission (NSC)/Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Mashramani tournament.
Bryan stopped Denzel Hopkinson 11-6, 4-11, 11-4, 6-11 and 11-6 to win the first semi-final on a gruelling day of table tennis yesterday. He will play Warren Hackshaw, who beat Denzel Duff 9-11, 11-5, 11-7 and 11-9 in the other semi ahead of today’s final showdown.
To continue his fine form, Bryan then returned later in the afternoon in the ‘B’ Class competition to defeat national senior female player, Natalie Cummings 7-11, 11-3, 11-7, 5-11 and 11-3 to set another keen contest against Orin Hickerson, who had the better of Hackshaw.
Earlier, Hickerson had thrashed Hackshaw 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8 in the other semi. Up to Kaieteur Sport press time, the Men’s Singles had just commenced.
All the remaining finals in the contest will be played today after which the Closing Ceremony will be held.
