A Cullen man, who brandished a knife and walked into his uncle’s home to relieve the man of his license firearm, has since been apprehended by police officers.
Police said the suspect also relieved another of his uncle, Yoweshwar Ragnauth, of his 16 gauge shotgun.
According to police, the man ventured into his uncle’s home at Cullen, and enquired of the man’s whereabouts.
After been told by his uncle’s wife, Mohani Ragnauth, who was at the time, conversing in her kitchen with a friend, that his uncle was not at home, the suspect, ventured to search the house for his uncle’s firearm.
As his search ended, the suspect who was unsuccessful in finding his uncle’s gun, however carted away a quantity of ammunition.
Police said that the suspect proceeded to another of his uncles, Yoweshar Ragnauth, who also lives at Cullen and carted away his 16 gauge shotgun, before fleeing the scene with his mother’s minibus.
After an intense search police said the suspect was apprehended at Queenstown back dam, with the articles hidden in the bus. Charges have since been laid.
