Another accident involving a truck in the Buck-Hall area, claimed one life and left two injured and hospitalised at both the Georgetown and Suddie hospitals. They were all occupants of a now missing truck.
Dead is 31-year-old, Chitram Sooknarine, of Anna Regina, New Housing Scheme. Earnko Pearson, 18, is a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital, while Trevor Pearson was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, and is said to be on a life support system.
Both of the Pearsons sustained injuries about their bodies, while Sooknarine suffered from severe internal injuries.
Police are now searching for both the driver and the truck. The driver’s name was given as Tavindra Ramcharran, of Cotton Field Village, Essequibo Coast. According to reports, Ramcharran has so far managed to elude capture.
The report states that Ramcharran was apparently making his way out of the Buck-Hall area on Thursday around, 5;30 in the evening when he lost control of the truck, which subsequently toppled in the hilly area.
The injured parties were subsequently transported to the Suddie Public Hospital. Sooknarine never regained consciousness.
Ramcharran who was also hospitalised, Police said, took his own discharge and has gone into hiding.Kawattie Gopaul, a\k, Kammo, Sooknarine’s wife, said that she last spoke with her husband, Sooknarine, on February 15. She said that he was scheduled to come home
yesterday.
However, that same day he ventured to work into the interior.
The grieving Kammo said that her family learnt of her husband’s death at midnight Friday night, after a call was forwarded to them by his employee’s relatives.
The housewife said that prior to venturing into the interior, in search for work, her husband worked as a labourer. “He used to do any kind of work he get, just in order to make me comfortable.”
The deceased and Kawattie were married for seven years. The union produced one daughter, six-year-old, Humeshu Sooknarine.
Chitram is survived by his wife, Kawattie, his mother, Latchmin, his father, Sham and only daughter, Humeshu.
