And the domestic abuse of women continues. This time Akeem Adams of lot 97 Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, found him self in hot water before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.
He was there to answer to the charge of unlawful and malicious wounding.
Police Corporal, Venetta Pindar, who prosecuted in the matter, told the court that on January 25, last, at Pineapple Street, the accused pulled Oneka James down a flight of steeps and slammed her head into a brick wall. Pindar further explained that on the day of the incident, the accused and the plaintiff were involved in an argument; hence Adams became annoyed and committed the unlawful act.
The plaintiff however managed to make her way to a private health centre, where she was medically examined. The matter was then reported to the police and Adams was arrested.
Attorney-at-law Paul Fug-a-fat merely said anything in representing the accused, but nonetheless applied for bail in a reasonable sum for his client.
After the matter was stood down for a few minutes, the Magistrate called the plaintiff Oneka Adams to give her evidence in chief. The accused was given the opportunity to cross-examine the witness. He declined.
The matter will continue today.
And two men who came from Matthews Ridge, in the North West District, Region One, were on Tuesday implicated in an arm robbery.
The two accused Keron Elkame and Curtis Arjoon who appeared before the same Magistrate were not required to plead to the indictable charge.
It is alleged that on February 15, somewhere between High and D’Urban Streets, Georgetown the two suspects while being armed with a gun, robbed Dominick Paul of two silver chains worth $42,000.
The prosecutor added that Arjoon was the gunman.
After allegedly robbing Paul, the two made good their escape.
Unfortunately for the two suspects, on the same day, Paul was able to assist the police in apprehending them. The gun was reportedly recovered on Arjoon.
The Magistrate informed the two robbery suspects that bail was being refused. The matter will be heard again on February 28.
