The Adventure Ferry Stelling was the scene that encountered another mishap, Sunday evening.
A Canter truck that usually distributes ‘Clear Water’ throughout the Essequibo Coast, slipped off the gantry and narrowly missed being submerged in the Essequibo River.
The Canter truck, which is owned by businessman, Lloyd Singh, of Sparta Village, on the Essequibo Coast, sustained damage to its rails as it was disembarking the Mv Malali.
As the truck which sustained damages to its rails was coming off of the boat, it slipped off of the stage, causing the stage to break in the process. Bottles of water that had fallen overboard had to be retrieved.
One frequent passenger of the M.V. Malali said these mishaps are very prevalent at the Adventure Stelling, due to the fact that the ramps that are built to bridge the space between the ferry and the stelling are usually not properly secured.
The residents said that businessmen are losing thousands of dollars every time the vehicles are damaged.
Last June, John Walcott’s truck GEE 7332, fell into the Essequibo River as it was disembarking the M.V.Malali. He lost some $2M in fertilizers
One employee at Adventure said that last night’s mishap was due to negligence of the driver who seemed in a hurry to exit the ferry.
