… Torching of RDC safe
Police have released the Regional official’s son and another Lindener who were detained in connection with the heist at the Regional Democratic Council office at Linden.
An official said that investigators have found no evidence to tie the men to the multi-million-dollar robbery.
They had seized a welding torch gauge and impounded a truck during the early stages of the investigations.
Police officials believe that the perpetrators had inside knowledge about the operations at the RDC office.
They point to the fact that the bandits had demanded a specific set of keys from the security guard they had accosted.
The robbers escaped with $5.4M in cash and about $3M in cheques after torching a safe in the RDC office’s accounts department.
Reports are that the money included the entire payroll for RDC employees in Sub-Region two, Kwakwani/Berbice.
