Incessant rainfall, which swept most of the coastal plain over the last week, left the Rising Sun Turf Club underwater and in an impenetrable condition forcing the organizers of the Rising Sun Pre Mashramani Horse Race Meet to call off the activity at the last moment.
The one day Horse Race meet was scheduled for Last Sunday February 20 at the Famous Rising Sun turf club Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
According to the organizers a new date will be set early as soon as the rain subsides.
Nine events were listed on the day’s card which had over 65 animals entered to participate in the day’s activity with total prize monies set at over $3.5M in addition to trophies.
The events listed for the day were the B class, Two three year old events one for animals Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies and the other for animals.
There were also races for The E and lower class animals G and lower, H and lower, ‘I’ and lower.
The two other races were for animals classified I3 and lower and K and lower.
Among some of the animals that were expected to participate were Prince Charming, Night Crescendo, Marathon man, Wad A luck, Gullium, Miss Orientate, Delmur Gold Sabrina Joy, Princes Yasmin, Better than Gold, Super Cat, Wicked Intention, Apostle, Royal Salute, Million Dollar Man, Black Beauty and Try Again among others.
