The inclement weather has put a damper on activities organized by the Berbice Volleyball Association with some two competitions being affected.
First the BVA’s Second Division volleyball competition, which was set for last Wednesday, February 16 at the Eaglets Volleyball Court Reliance, East Canje Berbice, was called off due to incessant rainfall on the day, which left the court in an unplayable condition.
The tournament had catered for young and other players who are not yet at the competitive level. According to President of the Association, Gregory Rambarran, the competition was intended to assist those players to build on their strengths and become better players and enable them to play at the higher level in the near future.
Several teams had turned up for the day’s action, but were disappointed, however, according to Rambarran that competition will now be played on Sunday March 13 at the same venue.
According to Rambarran a one day veteran’s tournament was set for that date, but the association has decided that it will give preference to the second division tournament. Another date will be set for the Veteran’s Tournament.
Meanwhile, the rain has also forced the association to push back the staging of their DDL sponsored Diamond Mineral Water one day Beach Volleyball competition which was slated for yesterday, Sunday, at the No.63 Beach. The competition will be played later. (Samuel Whyte)
