Feb 20, 2011 Letters
Dear Editor,
I have always been taught that it is impolite to discuss race, religion and politics in public, but since the Inter Religious Organisation (IRO) letter sent to the Press on February 18, 2011, under the name of Co-Chairman Ronald Mc Garrell contains stirring assertions, I am moved to be impolite.
The IRO contends that it “will never ever encourage or engage in any action where religion is made subservient. Such an action will be contrary to every known religious principle and for which we stand”.
Then the IRO goes on to state:
“Many of our members had applied for individual broadcast licences which were not being issued. As a compromise, we agreed to collectively apply for a licence for a single station where we can reach our respective audience. This has found favour with the Government of Guyana.”
My comment is:
As a “Compromise”!!!! if that is not subservience then what is? Oh then finding “Favour”!!!!! With the GOG (Government of Guyana) not GOD must be?
Pray tell me that I am both impolite and impudent and not very prudent.
By the way it would be interesting if the Government of Guyana (GOG) would make public all the allocations of all the frequencies on the electro-magnetic spectrum for broadcast and other transmissions as is done by most Governments of Democratic (god) countries.
