The Forbes Burnham Annual Memorial Cycle Race, which is in its fourth year, will be staged today from Carifesta Ave. to Belfield (Burnham’s Former Residence) and back starting at 7:00 this morning.
The event will be contested in categories: open, juniors and veterans. Monetary prizes are on offer for the outstanding performers including ten sprint prizes. Last year winners Alonzo Greaves (Open), Rastaff O’Selmo (Juniors) and Ian Jackson (Veterans) are expected to compete with Greaves showing good early form in recent events.
The top six in the open category, top three juniors and three veterans will collect prizes.
The race is sponsored by the Forbes Burnham Foundation and the prize money comes from donors.
The event is held at the time of the commemoration of the birth anniversary of the former President Mr Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham. February 20, 2011 is his 88th birth anniversary.
