Food for the Poor (Guy) Inc recently donated a variety of items to several geriatric homes in Georgetown.
Among those homes that benefitted are St Thomas More Men Homestead, Uncle Eddie’s Home, Archer’s and Byers Home, St Vincent DePaul Society, The Palms and Gentle Women Relief Association.
The presentation of items was done at the company’s head office at Blue Mountain Road, Festival City, North Ruimveldt.
“We get what is needed and we give what we get,” said Food for the Poor Chairman Paul Chan-A-Sue as he presented the items. The man acknowledged the need by most senior citizens’ homes in Guyana for assistance in obtaining specified items.
According to him, it is in accordance with its mission to assist the poor and less fortunate that the company donates and will continue to donate items to the less fortunate among whom are elderly persons who are in geriatric homes.
The company donated a wide variety of medical supplies and physical aids to the homes. These included pampers and other personal care items, bedroom and living quarters sets, wheelchairs, commodes, vitamins and food items, clothing and footwear.
These homes were said to have been chosen because of the pressing demands for assistance in these areas.
The chairman told representatives from the homes that they are now on the list and “whatever we have, you have”.
Chan-A-Sue said, “What we give to you today is just a sample of the future as we strive to make better for our elderly”.
