Up to press time yesterday two persons from the Enmore community were still in police custody assisting with investigation into the death of Prampattie Ramsundar.
A post mortem examination performed yesterday revealed that the woman died as a result of asphyxiation due to manual strangulation. The post mortem was done yesterday by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary.
On Tuesday last the woman’s body was found in the bottom flat of her two-storeyed house, at Second Street Newtown Enmore.
Reports are that the woman’s sister, Indra Puran, made several attempts to contact her sister via phone but failed to do so. The dead woman sister had told this publication that she was forced to visit the woman’s home to check since they had a business transaction and the now dead woman was late.
This newspaper was told that when Puran turned up at her sister’s home she noticed several things out of place and subsequently stumbled upon her sister bound body in the lower flat of the house.
The woman was found with her hands tied behind her head and with a telephone cord wrapped around her neck. The police were immediately called in and the woman’s body was removed.
A police tracker dog which was a part of the investigating team led investigators to a house not far from where Ramsundar lived. Relatives of the dead woman also claimed that the house to which the dog led investigators is occupied by a man who was always involved in confrontation with Ramsundar.
Also a large amount of cash and jewellery was missing from the woman’s house. Investigations are ongoing.
