The Bounty Handicap Squash tournament continued on Thursday at the Georgetown Club courts with the Steven Xavier and Nyron Joseph’s showdown stealing the night.
With the amount of diving and gliding that was witnessed in this match, one would begin to wonder whether these two young and very talented players were playing a game of squash or swimming. This match displayed the true athletic ability of both young men.
This encounter from the main draw started off with never-ending rallies, each player trying to tire out the next. Both players showed their incredible retrieving skills along with powerful shots, sending each other from corner to corner.
However, Joseph showed dominance taking the first game 15/11. But Xavier was not prepared to throw in the towel and blazed through the second game, giving up only three points and evening the tie with a 15/3 win.
The last game was a battle of the swiftest and Joseph was prepared to continue the pattern of the games making it a neck-to-neck race up to thirteen all. However, Xavier put an end to his spirited challenge and finished the match with 15/13 and the audience gave a standing ovation as the players walked off court.
