All systems are in place for the Rising Sun Grand Charity one day horserace meet set for tomorrow when that entity presents its annual Pre Mashramani Horserace meet at the famous Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
Over 65 animals have been entered with prize monies totaling over $3.5M in addition to trophies at stake.
The track has been resurfaced to make it easier for the animals to compete and extensive upgrading work has been done on the pavilion and stands. Nine events are listed for the day.
Several sponsors are on board including Beverage giants Banks DIH limited, Telephone giants Digicel, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, Cummings Electrical, Romel Jagroop Construction Company of Bush Lot West Coast Berbice, Chester Fry Chicken of West Coast Berbice, Hablaw’s meat Centre, Dalip Trading, Toucan Industries and Poultry supplies and Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
There are a number of feature events on the days’ card namely the B and lower, the 3 yr old Guyana and West Indies bred race, 3 yr old event for Guyana Bred horses, the E class race the and G class event and H class races highlighting the days activities.
Banks DIH Limited has once again sponsored the feature B class event with sponsorship close to $1M with the winners set to race away with $450,000 and the Banks DIH trophy.
The distance is an encouraging 1300M which suits both the sprinters and distance horses.
The two three year old events will first see the animals’ battle for supremacy among those animals Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies which has a winning prize tag of $250,000 and trophy available.
The three year old event for horses Bred and born in Guyana has a winner’s money of $200,000 and trophy.
The winning stakes in the E class event has been upped significantly to $240,000 and trophy.
The G and lower showdown will see the top animal receiving $150,000 and trophy.
The H class winnings are set at $140,000 and trophy. The ‘I’ and lower event will see the winner carting off $130,000 and trophy.
There animals classified I3 and lower and those with one win will race for a winning prize of $120,000 and a trophy.
The other event on the days programme is for horses classified K and lower, with a $90,000 first prize and trophy. All the events will be run over a distance of 1300M.
Among some of the animals expected to take to the track on race day are Prince Charming, Night Crescendo, Marathon man, Wad A luck, Gullium, Miss Orientate, Delmur Gold, Sabrina Joy, Princes Yasmin, Better than Gold, Super Cat, Wicked Intention, Apostle, Royal Salute, Million Dollar Man, Black Beauty, Try Again among others.
Top Individual performers including champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable will all receive trophies among other prizes.
