Eight teams to battle from March 5 @ Bartica Centre Gr.
History will be created when for the first time a Twenty20 Cricket Tournament is held under lights in Bartica that will feature eight teams from the Essequibo Region.
D&C Promotions (Deon Ferrier and Charles Jones) in conjunction with the Bartica Cricket Committee (BCC) are the organisers of this tournament which is expected to be a big hit in Bartica and by extension, Essequibo.
The organisers have stated that the main aim of the tournament is to help with the development of the shorter version of the game in the area by having some of the best teams on show. They also wanted to introduce night cricket to the residents, cricket fans, supporters and players.
A top prize of $400,000 is at stake for the winner of this inaugural tournament with half that amount guaranteed for the loser of the championship game.
Winner of the third place encounter will pocket $100,000 while the team finishing fourth will receive $20,000.
The teams battling for the attractive prizes on offer are Pomeroon, North, Central, South and East Bank Essequibo, Bartica A and B and Wakenaam/Leguan Combine.
The corporate community in Bartica has been very supportive of this initiative and has shown their support in a tangible way.

Ramnuath & Sons Discount Store, Five Star Minerals, Gold Target Export, Kamal 2K Gift Centre, Dino Grocery Store, Ryan & Reuben General Store, MJ’s Supermarket, Williams & Sons General Store, Hopkinson Mining & New Modern Hotel, Beverage Depot, Mike and Tessa.
